For a number of years now I have been an erratic attender of a peaceful half an hour on Saturday mornings. I speak of the weekly healing meditation led by ConnieJean Maven. Each Saturday since 2009, Maven has welcomed all SL residents to spend time in quiet contemplation for the healing of themselves, others and the world. I have found it a lovely way to begin the weekend.

There is more Maven says, “In addition to the Saturday morning meditation, we also periodically offer chakra inner healing meditations, pathworking meditations, and meditations for peace. I also offer classes in meditation, manifestation, and other metaphysical topics. We hold festive celebrations on all new and full moons.”

She holds a strong vision for these gatherings, “I hold the meditations because everyone needs a little extra peace, a little extra love in their lives. Fortunately for me I have the ability to create and maintain an environment that helps people who come to my circle find just those things. After all this time we still have new people coming to the circle and that tells me that my work is still needed and still serving the community.”

Over these ten years, I wondered what outcomes she had seen. She said, “I hope to empower those who seek peace within themselves. My greatest sense of accomplishment comes when someone who has come to our circles tells me they are going off to lead a reiki circle, or a meditation circle, or a class in RL or somewhere in SL. One of our regular participants had a heart attack and subsequently open heart bypass surgery. We met with special intentions and this woman in her mid-60s recovered in record breaking time. I have held the hands of those who have a loved one cross over, or about to cross over. We all need a bit of healing comfort from time to time and I am lucky enough to be able to help with that.”

Maven has studied and prepared to lead meditations and she is very serious and accomplished. Her dedication has led her to this wonderful service of bringing peace. She said her real intention is to “heal the whole world, one heart at a time.”

Meditation begins at 7am SLT at the CRYSTAL MOUNTAIN SANCTUARY on Mystica (32, 235, 24).

Maven’s SL group, United Healers of Second Life, has a Facebook page. Regular and special events will be announced there.
